Taiwan Digital Nomad Visa

The Taiwan Digital Nomad Visitor Visa is designed for individuals who work remotely for companies or clients outside of Taiwan. It allows holders to stay in Taiwan for an initial period of up to 90 days, with the possibility of extending it for a total stay of up to 180 days. This visa allows you to experience Taiwan's culture and lifestyle while continuing your remote work.

Application Requirements:

  • Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months and have blank pages. You'll need to provide the original and a photocopy.

  • Photos: Two recent (within 6 months) color passport-sized photos (45mm x 35mm) with a white background.

  • Proof of Remote Work:

    • A personal resume or portfolio detailing your work experience.

    • A valid work contract with your employer or contracts for your current freelance projects.

    • A completed "Description of Intended Activities" form.

  • Financial Requirements (meet one of the following):

    • For those aged 30 or older: Proof of an annual salary of at least US$40,000 in one of the last two years.

    • For those aged 20 to 29: Proof of an annual salary of at least US$20,000 in one of the last two years.

    • Alternatively: Proof of having been issued a digital nomad visa by another country.

  • Proof of Funds: Bank statements from the last six months showing an average monthly balance of at least US$10,000.

  • Health Insurance: Proof of health and full hospitalization insurance for the entire duration of your intended stay in Taiwan.

How can I qualify for the application?

You must be a citizen of a country with visa-free entry to Taiwan and meet one of the following conditions:

  • You have previously been issued a digital nomad visa from another country.

  • For those over 30 years old: An annual income of at least US$40,000 in either of the last two years.

  • For those between 20 and 29 years old: An annual income of at least US$20,000 in either of the last two years.

How long does the application take, and how do I check the progress?

From the date of application, it takes 14-20 working days. If there are holidays or additional documents required, the review time will be extended. To ensure your rights are not affected, it is recommended that you plan early and apply in advance. To confirm the application progress, please call the accepting unit where you submitted your application.

How long can I stay in Taiwan? How do I extend my stay?

he visa validity is 90 days and can be extended once through the National Immigration Agency, with a maximum total stay of 180 days per visit.

Is there a mechanism for renewal after the maximum 180-day stay?

Since this is a new visa, it is not yet possible to provide a longer stay period until the law is amended.
